Golf and Cycling Events

Le Golf National fits into our description of the western part of the greater Paris area as the belt of high profile sports with the location of 4 facilities.Le Golf National, designed by the golf architect,Claude Roger Cartier, constructed by the Benedetti company and opened to the public during the tenure of Roger Bambuck as the minister of Sports,is the first Olympic facility in this area. This is where you have the headquarters of the Golf Federation, the 2018 Ryder Cup was organised here and this is one of the most popular golf competition venues in the EU. Le Velodrome National de St.Quentin-en-Yvelines is the second Olympic Games facility and, this was where the 2023 Tour de France Cycling departed to Paris. At the Montigny-le-Bretonneux is the Stade BMX,where bikers will display their pedaling, jumping and obstacles navigating skills. This area is in proximity to Versailles, the site scheduled for horse racing events.

Hockey,Cricket and Swimming Competitions

Nanterre,Colombes,La Courneuve and Seine-Saint-Denis are the Olympic venues for gynmastics, waterpolo, swimming, hockey and cricket.Recently in a conversation with a Colombes resident who is very proud of the cricket grounds in his area put emphasis on how cricket players dress with reference to their bats, gloves, spiked shoes and protective clothings. A similar pride was displayed by two dionysiens who talked about le Stade de France,as if they were representatives of the facility and when they find that their listeners were attentive to what they were saying. They added, after the games,we are going to invite you to the Centre Aquatique(Saint-Denis) because the centre has a fitness place,a shopping hall and many moderately priced restaurants, but the question,if you are going to offer everyone a drink, became the topic of another conversation.
