The Arrival of the Olympic Flame in Marseille

To a section of the public,the city of Marseille is synonymous with famous personalities like Gaston Defferre,Edmonde Charles Roux,Jean-Claude Gaudin and Bernard Tapie,the business tycoon and the former president of Olympique de Marseille,the footbal team.As from the 8th of May 2024,another section of the public will add to the laurels of the city of Marseille,the commitment of Benoit Payan(the mayor) to the development of the city and  the arrival of the Olympic Flame.

 The First Olympic Games Ceremony

Le Belem, the training vessel carrying the Olympic Flame from Greece will reach the port of Marseille in the evening of the 8th of May and this arrival will be the festival/first public gathering relevant to the organisation of the Games in France.This ceremony in the city of Marseille will be graced with the attendance of the public, sports administrators,professionals,politicians,ministers,local government executives, as well as COJOP,DIJOP and CNOSF officials.

Olympic Games Relay Routes

In the city of Marseille,the Olympic Flame will swirl along the relay routes and torch bearers will exchange the Olympic Flame at the relay points within the 8 districts.In short,the Olympic Flame itinerary covers attractions like the Old Port,the Notre Dame de la Garde,Le Parc Borely,Le Palais Pharo... and Le Stade Vélodrome.The Velodrome stadium is one of the identities of the city and reputed as an international competition venue.The next day,the Olympic Flame leaves the city to other French cities, to the overseas territories and back to the Greater Paris area in July and on the 26th of July,the Olympic Flame will be at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
